‘I ship Groo with Xander’ isn’t an announcement you would probably hear out of many people’s mouths. But I can proudly say that it’s one that you would hear coming out of mine. Why?

Where shall I begin?

Did you know that between seasons, Nick Brendon grows a beard, meaning that his identical twin, Kelly, looks more of a Xander than he does? Have you heard the stories – or witnessed for yourself – the hilarity that is Mark Lutz? Were you at the David Boreanaz Event in Brighton this August?

If so, then it’s possible you’re one of the few people who can agree with me. While the supporting cast were on stage, Mark and Kelly continuously entertained the audience as if they’d known each other for years, and completely overshadowed the lovely yet far too quiet Nick and Kristine (Sutherland).

One absolute highlight of the afternoon had to be Nick’s demonstration of the Scooby Dance, having postponed this prestigious event twice (he declined during the morning talk as he felt ill, and then had to visit the toilet before he could continue!).

During the afternoon, Kelly and Mark hugged on stage, leading to the inevitable discussions of how Groo and Xander could be put together into innocent – and not so – situations. The afternoon also saw Kristine announcing a hundred times how if she had the chance, she would edit the last two seasons of Buffy so that she wasn’t dead, Nick singing a line from Once More, With Feeling, Mark Lutz having obviously told Nick Brendan about his discovery of what the word ‘slappers’ meant the last time he was over here, and many more interesting factoids and backstage tales.

You might have noticed that the event was named the David Boreanaz Event, and yet I’ve barely mentioned David until now. I won’t go into my feelings on the reasons behind that here, but lets just say there wasn’t much to say because he wasn’t around all that long. While David *was* onstage, he was adorable with everyone who went to ask him a question, especially after the microphone broke and he had people come onto the stage and sit next to him on the sofa.

Meeting the stars of the show is always a thrill, and this event was no exception!
