Breaking the Norm
By Rach
Setting: Sometime during season five, at Christmas, but it doesn’t matter where it falls, ep-wise.
Pairing: Wes/Fred
Rating: PG
Challenge: Wesley and Fred want to celebrate Christmas – W&H don’t.
Disclaimer: You think they’d be apart in the show if I thought they were mine?!
Note: Hope you like, Lara – I couldn’t work the kissage in this time *cries* but I think it still worked!! Merry Christmas!
Fred tapped on the door of Wesley’s office and smiled as he waved her in without looking up from his work. This kind of thing was exactly why she was here.
“Wesley, you’re coming to my place for lunch tomorrow.”
She was hoping that using shock tactics would actually make him look up. She was right.
“I’m … what?”
“Angel’s given everyone in the entire company the day off.”
Now she really had his attention. “Fred, I think you’ve been spending too much time amongst radioactive substances, they’ve gone to your head.”
She laughed. “No, he really has.” She stared at his blank look. “For Christmas? Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed the gigantamous tree that appeared out there about a week ago? Lorne’s been working himself to the bone to get all the decorations done in time.”
Wesley clicked. “I’ve barely been out of my office the last week. In fact, I think the only time I did leave was to chase the mailman down the corridor because he delivered the mail that I was sending out back to me.”
“Right,” Fred nodded. “Well, Charles already has something planned and Angel’s just going to brood all day, but I’d really like for you to come over.” She blushed a little. “I’ve got a gift for you.”
Wesley shook his head. “No, you mustn’t! I haven’t got anything for you!”
She laughed. “Accept my invitation, and seeing you relax for a change will be reward enough.”
With a slight smile, Wesley nodded. “I’d be delighted.”
“Wonderful! I’ll see you around noon? You know the way, right?”
“Yes. Fred?” He called after her as she turned to leave. “Angel really gave everyone the day off? Doesn’t sound like him.”
“Well, this is Wolfram and Hart’s first Christmas. They’re usually very against it. Angel was just glad he got to rebel to the senior partners for a change – everything has gone far too smoothly so far!”
As Wesley picked up his pen again, Fred grinned. “See you tomorrow!”
